The Great Fire of London destroyed 80% of the City in 1666, including 13,200 homes, 87 churches, St Paul's Cathedral and the interior and roof of Guildhall. It devastated 400 acres inside the City Walls and 60 acres beyond. Yet, much of the City of London was rebuilt by 1672. See the magnificent Monument to the Great Fire and learn the meaning of its sculpted relief. Trace the course of the fire westwards from its start in Pudding Lane and discover how it consumed St Paul's. Hear how the City's history was dramatically altered by five days of inferno and see some of the beautiful Wren churches that redefined the London skyline. The walk lasts approximately two hours. Please be prepared for all weather conditions!
