Londinium (Roaming with the Romans)
Roman London 2,000 years on
Service Description
This Londinium walk is the first of two London On The Ground tours on Saturday 17 May. That afternoon at 2.30pm, I will be leading 'Shakespeare in the City of London'. Why not join me for both? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Romans came to Britain in the year 43 and founded London soon after. They stayed for almost 400 years. Discover how they shaped the history of the City through to the present day and find where they left signs of their presence. "Huge fun, as ever, 5* and thoroughly recommended!" Find evidence of a Roman bathhouse, the stream that helped them found the City, the Roman walls, a temple and the site where gladiators fought. The walk lasts approximately two hours. Please be prepared for all weather conditions! Start: Outside Tower Hill tube station (Trinity Square side) Finish: A short walk from Moorgate, Bank, Barbican or St Paul's tube stations "a wonderful couple of hours of time travel." "excellent [walk] and great details!" "What a brilliant afternoon we had... So many fascinating nooks and secret places to explore, and Jonathan kept us all (adults, teenager and two year old!) educated and entertained." **Please note that payment must be made online before the walk and that no refunds will be given for cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.** Click on the 'Book Now' button and find the next available date for this walk.
